Staffing issues are forcing a weekend closure at yet another hospital in the Interior Health region.
Last night, the health authority sent out a statement to residents near Ashcroft, notifying them of the brief hiatus of their emergency department.
In their release, Interior Health pins the closure on limited staffing availability, which has become a trend in the province.
Earlier this year, the Cariboo Memorial Hospital was forced to close off maternity services on multiple occasions due to inadequate staffing levels.
It is a probably that has also plagued a number of smaller communities in the Peace Region the past few years.
Interior Health says they regret the closure, which will effect both the Ashcroft Hospital emergency department, and the Community Health Care Centre.
Both will be closed between midnight on Friday and 8:00 Saturday morning.
