British Columbians living through mental health and addictions challenges will soon have added support and better access to the services they need.
A new provincial strategy titled “A Pathway to Hope” establishes a 10 year roadmap for how government will improve mental health and addictions care.
It also identifies the priority action which the province will take over the next 3 years, with a heavy focus on supporting children and youth.
Under the plan, access to affordable counselling and support will be improved, integrated child and youth teams will begin circulating services to schools, 8 new foundry centres will be established, and support for early childhood social development will be improved.
In addition, the plan also features support for Indigenous-led solutions and young adult care, while expanding on on-going efforts to fight the overdose crisis.
