Improvements to the Regional District of Fraser Fort George’s 9-1-1 calling system could be on the way.
At their regular meeting yesterday, the District proposed a number of enhancements to the system should they be approved.
One of those changes would involve moving the fire dispatch centre in to the new Prince George Fire Hall once it is built.
They are also proposing the development of a back up location for the centre.
New technologies will also be introduced to modernize the system to meet federal Next Gen 9-1-1 regulations by 2023.
In total, the project is estimated to cost around 5 million dollars, 3 million of which would come from borrowing.
All of the proposals must still be approved via an Alternate Approval Process, which the District will release more info on this summer.
