Chief Don Tom of the Tsartlip First Nation has been elected as the new Vice-President of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.
Chief Tom, who was born in Brentwood Bau, is a long-time advocate for Indigenous title and rights.
Following the announcement, Tom issued a statement saying he is looking forward to working to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
