A rash of recent downtime at B.C. sawmills is starting to affect pulp operations.
Canfor Pulp has announced downtime at its Taylor mill due to a combination of weaker markets and short-term fibre constraints it says are a result of recent industry-wide sawmill curtailments.
Many of the province’s major forestry players have recently announced temporary and permanent sawmill closures, including Canfor’s Vavenby operation.
Canfor Pulp says its BCTMPÂ (bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp) mill in Taylor will shut down from June 29 through August 5 reducing output by about 25,000 tonnes.
