A joint effort between the University of Northern BC and Northern Lights College will bring more training opportunities for nurses in the Northeast.
Today, the province announced they would be funding the planning and implementation of a five semester bachelor of science nursing program.
Utilizing a UNBC program, the course will be run out of the Northern Lights College campus in Fort St John.
Students who wish to apply for the course must have at least 60 university transfer credits, with priority given to Indigenous students and NLC candidates.
Hopes are to have the first class of 16 students up and running by September of 2020, with 32 available seats in following years.
Total funding for starting the program and operating the first class is estimated at 1.1 million dollars.
