School District 54 is set to welcome a new Assistant Superintendent just in time for the next school year.
Mr. Matthew Monkman has been appointed to fill the role beginning on August 1st.
Superintendent Mike McDiarmid announced the change today, praising Monkman’s knowledge, experience, and leadership.
Monkman began his teaching career at Houston’s Silverthorne Elementary in 1987, after graduating from the University of Victoria.
For the past 13 years, he has served as the District’s Principal of Technology and Innovation, while also heading up the Distributed Learning Program.
In response to the appointment, Monkman said that he believes in developing leadership at all levels towards a shared vision for the District.
