Nearly 1.2 million dollars in provincial funding will help make child care services more readily available in Fort St John.
In total, the investment will help too create 113 new child care spaces as part of the Childcare BC New Spaces Fund.
Funding will allow Wiggles and Giggles Group Daycare to open up 52 new spaces at its second facility, which opened last month.
Peace River North School District will receive one million of the funding to open up a 61 space daycare at Anne Roberts Young Elementary.
In an effort to help Northern Health retain employees in the community, the District will ensure a number of spaces are reserved for Fort St John Regional Hospital employees.
That centre is slated to open in July of 2020 and will be operated by the local YMCA.
