A Tahltan project is among 48 receiving provincial funding to fight gender-based violence in Indigenous communities.
That funding comes by way of a series of small grants of between 25 hundred, and 16 thousand dollars, through the Giving Voice Grants program.
Approved projects focus on traditional activities, such as knowledge workshops and healing projects, with a community-based approach.
For the Tahltan Band Council, funding will go towards a five day women and girls retreat to support networking and build confidence.
Giving Voice is funded by the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, and by the Ministry of Public Safety.
In total, they will provide 689 thousand dollars in funding over the next 2 years.
