Construction is now underway on a 2.6 million dollar Indigenous student housing project in Prince George.
Community members, provincial reps, Lheidli T’enneh members, and students gathered for the project’s groundbreaking this morning.
Located beside existing student housing at the College of New Caledonia campus, the facility will provide 12 furnished rooms to Indigenous students.
In addition, residents of the facility will have access to an Elder for cultural support, and designated areas for cultural practices and activities.
First year students will have access to the 440 square metre building once construction wraps up in 2020.
