The first of many planned reconciliation talks between the province and the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs have begun.
According to MP Murray Rankin, who was selected to engage with the chiefs, discussions were to be held yesterday and today.
Rankin says they plan to meet for two days every two weeks.
Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs were in New York this week for the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, where they levied a human rights complaint against Canada.
Hereditary chiefs and the province officially launched the reconciliation process during a smoke feast in Witset last month.
