A community group formed in the wake of last year’s devastating wildfires around Francois Lake will get some financial help their efforts.
Chinook Emergency Response Society has been awarded $30,000 from the Nechako-Kitimaat Development fund.
The money will be used to develop a community action plan to prepare Southside residents for future wildire events.
Chibook Emergency Response Society is made up of Southside area residents, many of whom defied evacuation orders last summer in order to protect their property from wildfires.
