It’s time to stop setting grassfires, according to the McLeese Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
That stern message comes after the department responded to one such fire north of Duckworth Lake and east of Highway 97 on Friday morning.
Labelled as a human-caused “major incident” after the fire got away from a resident.
Crews were able to get the fire under control by Friday afternoon, with little resulting damage.
But the Department is still asking residents to hold of on the burning now that the warmer, dryer, months are upon us.
