More than 17 thousand dollars was raised by attendees of the Haisla LNG Conference this week to support a local family in need.
Gingolx residents Melvin and Rita Barton had recently lost everything in a house fire.
But, thanks to the generosity on display at the Kitimat-based conference, they will get at least a little bit of relief.
Donations came by way of individual contributions, company and corporate donations, and via a 50/50 draw at the conference.
Edison Bolton, the winner of the 50/50 draw, generously donated his winnings back to the fund, bringing that total to 2,170 dollars.
The Haisla Nation themselves kicked off the funding with a one thousand dollar donation.
When all was said and done, a total of 17,755 dollars was raised.
