Prince George RCMP are warning the public about a recent spike in distraction thefts.
Mounties say they’ve received three reports in the last 24 hours about people’s belongings being stolen while victims were being distracted by an accomplice.
In a theft reported Tuesday night, a backpack was taken by a man and woman. One person distracted the victim while the other stole the backpack.
The same evening, Prince George RCMP got two separate reports about purse thefts in local stores.
Both victims were distracted by one suspect while another stole their purse from a shopping cart.
Police say the duo is believed to be responsible for all three thefts.
RCMP arrested an adult female following the third incident and was released on a Promise to Appear for court later this spring. The male suspect has not yet been located or identified.
Police are still investigating.
