The Cariboo Regional District says spring runoff is causing problems for the Red Bluff sewer system.
The CRD says high flows are inundating lift stations and threatening to overflow them.
Officials are asking area residents to disconnect any sump pumps that are discharging into the sewer system and re-route them into their yards.
The regional district is also asking Red Bluff residents to reduce water usage during peak supper hour times.
The CRD says it expects high flow conditions to continue for the next week at least.
More information about sump pump discharge can be found at the Cariboo Regional District website.
