Residents of the Cariboo and Interior are being warned to start prepping their yards to ward off Douglas Fir beetles now.
According to the Industrial Forestry Service, the beetles tend to focus on dying trees and begin feasting in the early summer.
Because of this, they are recommending residents begin spraying their trees as soon as possible.
As far as which method to use, the Service recommends MCH repellant, which must be applied 2 weeks in advance of infestations.
MCH repellant confuses the beetles in to believing the tree is full and no longer worth eating.
