UBCIC President Grand Chief Stewart Phillip has revealed a very personal connection to BC’s on-going overdose crisis.
In a release this morning, the Grand Chief shared that his son had passed away following a carfentanyl overdose last August.
That release calls for the Government of BC to join with UBCIC and the BC Health Authority in recognizing the crisis as a state of emergency.
Also included in the release was a request for the province to launch a public inquiry in to the influence of internations organized crime syndicates on the crisis.
UBCIC says they are fully committed to exhausting all avenues to find an immediate solution.
