Growth of Indigenous tourism is the goal of a new agreement between the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC.
The Memorandum of Understanding will allow both organizations to leverage each other’s programs to support Indigenous entrepreneurs and generate sustainable tourism in the region.
CCCTA CEO Amy Thacker says there’s a wealth of exceptional experiences and cultural sharing opportunities to support a thriving Indigenous tourism economy in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast.
ITBC Chair Brenda Baptiste says the MOU reflects a genuine strategic partnership to develop world-class experiences and attract more visitors to the region.
A key component of the partnership will be the introduction of an Indigenous Tourism Specialist based in Williams Lake.
The Memorandum of Understanding was announced at the BC Tourism Industry Conference in Vancouver.
