Dozens of community members gathered outside Terrace City Hall at 11:00 this morning before embarking on the City’s Second Annual Women’s Memorial March.
Kermode Friendship Society Outreach Worker Stephanie Louie kicked off the march with an emotional speech.
During her speech, Louie spoke on the trauma caused by the loss of a loved one, and preached the healing power of unity and memory.
Residents gathered outside the totem pole near City Hall to honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women with traditional drumming and prayer.
Marchers then began their journey through the streets to the Kermode Friendship Society, where they took place in a Healing Circle to further honour friends and family taken from this world too soon.
