Dease Lake residents will be taking less precautionary trips to the hospital thanks to the devoted efforts of a pair of nurses.
Anna Fritch noticed an upward trend in the number of residents visiting the hospital with minor illnesses, such as colds and fevers, taking time away from more serious matters.
Fritch later made a connection between that issue and the lack of availability of basic health information on how to treat minor illnesses.
In order to combat the problem, Fitch teamed up with fellow Dease Lake nurse Amy Bolton to host a community health fair.
At the fair, Fritch handed out thermometers, as well as basic information on how to take temperatures and treat fevers in children.
According to the Fritch, giving away the thermometers allows residents to take temperatures on their own, which they can then site when calling the hospital.
She now keeps some of the information in her office to help educate visitors.
