The new president of Coastal GasLink plans to spend the coming months along the pipeline route meeting with First Nation partners, community members, and local governments.
David Pfeiffer, previously CGL’s Vice-President of Implementation, was named to the position effective February 1, 2019.
Pfeiffer brings over 20 years of experience to the position, including a role as Managing Director of a joint venture between a 16-member First Nations Limited Partnership and their contractor.
The Coastal GasLink Pipeline has reached agreement with First Nation band councils along the route but faces strong opposition by Wet’suwet’en hereditary leaders.
CGL’s outgoing president Rick Gateman has warned that the multi-billion dollar pipeline project could be put at risk if workers are not given unfettered access to the Wet’suwet’en territory in question.
The company is seeking a permanent injunction against Wet’suwet’en members opposed to the pipeline.
