Three million dollars in provincial funding announced today will help BC students gain easier access to mental health support services.
All 60 school districts will benefit from the funding, which will go towards staff training, parent information sessions, resource material development, community organizations, and student workshops.
Existing mental health programs on the school level can also benefit from the funding.
Along with the funding, the province also announced additional supports by way of anxiety prevention workshops.
Developed in collaboration with Anxiety Canada, the new workshops will be offered to teachers of kindergarten through grade 7 and are part of the Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators program.
These additions are part of the province’s mental health and addictions strategy which will be announced in its entirety later this year.
