Quesnel is finally taking the first step towards establishing cannabis retail guildelines within the city.
City Council gave first reading to their Cannabis Retail Sales Outlets and Cannabis Production Facilities Bylaw at their regular meeting on Tuesday.
Under the proposal, cannabis retail outlets would be permitted in the Central Business District Commercial area, West Quesnel Business District, Highway Commercial Zones, and Regional Shopping Centre Zones.
Outlets would also need to be located 100 metres from a school zone, park or playground, and 50 metres from a residential property.
Next the bylaw will have to make the rounds through a series of hearings, readings, and processes, with February 19th being the earliest possible adoption of the bylaw.
