Across Canada and the world, First Nations and their supporters are gathering at a series of rallies to show support for the Wet’suwet’en people.
From Halifax to Victoria, rallies are being held in 46 cities across Canada, with another 10 taking place world wide.
Yesterday, 14 individuals were arrested as RCMP breached baracades in Wet’suwet’en territories that were set up to prevent the unsanctioned construction of pipelines within their territories.
Land defenders at the Gidimt’en camp near Houston issued the call for international solidarity ahead of yesterday’s events.
Residents in the Northwest will be able to show their support at rallies in Terrace, Hazelton, Haida Gwaii, Old Massett, Smithers, and Bella Bella.
