Prince George RCMP say people evacuated in the wake of a gas pipeline explosion near Prince George are being allowed back home.
The detachment says police were notified about the blast around 5:30 Tuesday evening in the Landooz Road area. As a precaution, emergency crews evacuated homes several kilometres from the explosion site.
Police now say gas to the ruptured Enbridge line has been cut off and the evacuation zone has been reduced to one kilometre.
RCMP say there were no injuries and no damage other than to the pipeline itself.
Police say there’s no indication about what caused the rupture, but investigators will be at the site to conduct an examination Wednesday.
