The BC Wildfire Service says two fires near the BC-Yukon border are expanding, but it says neither are threatening the community.
Still, the fire centre sent a specialist to assess Lower post for structural protection Friday as the Lutz Creek Fire burns 11 km southwest of the community and the 7400 hectare Blue River Fire is 15 km southwest.
Officials say the Blue River fire is creating a large volume of smoke highly visible in Lower Post.
The BC wildfire Service says crews are conducting fly-overs daily on both wildfires and that public safety and protection of property remain their top priority.
Lower Post is not currently under an evacuation alert or order.
