An unexpected light show alerted police to an impaired driver along Highway 97 over the weekend.
North District RCMP were on routine patrol Sunday night when they spotted sparks flying from a Dodge Ram pickup pulling a flat deck trailer.
Police say the sparks were from two snowmobiles that had come loose from the trailer and were being dragged along the asphalt. Although the driver was unaware, several other motorists had called police about the truck.
Mounties pulled the truck over and issued the driver a 90 day suspension for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The truck was impounded and a tow company took the sleds and trailer back to town.
The driver was also ticketed for having an unsecured load.
