Thousands of customers from Haida Gwaii to Houston were unable to watch television, check email, or even make a phone call Saturday night into early Sunday.

CityWest confirms that the major outage overnight, which affected multiple service providers, was caused by a break in the fibre line east of Terrace.
Service was lost to many customers around 7:20 Saturday night and was restored to most by about 2 a.m. Sunday.
CityWest says some of its customers in Terrace may still be without service, but it says crews are working to restore them within the next day.
The company says it is still in the early stages of investigating the outage and cannot comment on the cause. It expects more information to be released in the coming days.
CityWest says it regrets any inconvenience to customers and thanks them for their patience.
