According to a United Nations committee, continued construction on the Site C mega dam may violate international agreements.
A letter which contends that the work will cause irreversible damage to traditional First Nations lands was sent to Canada’s ambassador by the anti-discrimination committee.
In the letter, which cites research performed by Canada, the committee says the work violates a 50 year-old treaty signed by the country and 88 others.
Research has revealed that continued construction on the dam could cause a major disruption in water levels across the Northwest.
