Man with ties to Cariboo region wanted by Ridge Meadows RCMP in connection to 2019 Child Pornography investigation

Ridge Meadows RCMP have asked for the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted for skipping a court date related to a Child Pornography infestation from 2019.

RCMP say 53-year-old James Thomas Glen Smart had earlier been charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Assault, Sexual Interference, Sexual Exploitation, Uttering Threats, and Sexual Assault. He was recently due in court for sentencing, but did not attend.

As a result, an arrest warrant for him has now been issued, and the Ridge Meadows RCMP would like to speak with anyone who may have seen him, or who may know anything about his current whereabouts. You can contact the detachment at 604-463-6251, the file number for this case is 2019-18486.

James Smart is described as Indigenous, 5 foot 11 inches tall, weighing about 153 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
