The Central Coast Regional District had declared a local state of emergency yesterday, Tuesday, March 18th following a landslide on Mt. Caro Marion above the hamlet of Martin Valley, combined with a significant flood risk in the community brought on by the recent atmospheric river.
The eastern half of Martin Valley had been evacuated to Ocean Falls last night down Marine Drive, with the evacuation order given at 7:30pm. The remaining residents west of the Martin River had placed on evacuation alert – which remains in effect today.
