Snowfall warnings are in effect for parts of the region today.
Up to 10 centimetres of snow is expected, with locally as much as 15 centimetres by this afternoon along Highway 37, from the community of Dease Lake to the north end of Dease Lake.
A slow-moving warm front is bringing periods of heavy snow to the area. Travellers heading north out of Dease Lake are advised to use caution, as snowfall amounts could be higher along the highway. Roads and walkways may be slippery and difficult to navigate. Allow extra time if you’re travelling.
Meanwhile, heavier snowfall is expected in parts of the southern Yukon and northern B.C., including Faro, Ross River, Teslin, the Cassiar Mountains, and Watson Lake.
Snowfall totals of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected from now through this evening as a warm front moves in and interacts with colder air. At times, snow may fall heavily, reducing visibility.
Travel conditions are expected to be challenging, with snow-covered roads and walkways. Drivers are urged to slow down and plan for extra travel time.
