Effective today Monday, January 12th, the District of Kitimat has issued a Water Quality Advisory for the community water system.
The advisory is due to increased turbidity, or cloudiness, in the Kitimat River.
Northern Health recommends that children, pregnant women, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems boil their drinking water until further notice.
Owners of public facilities are required to notify patrons about the advisory.
The Water Quality Advisory will remain in place until a new public notice is issued by a Drinking Water Officer.
The District of Kitimat says it is working closely with Northern Health to monitor the situation.
