Business leader and philanthropist Yuri Fulmer has announced he is seeking the leadership of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, positioning himself as a challenger to Premier David Eby and the NDP government.
Fulmer says British Columbia is falling behind after years of rising living costs, public safety concerns, healthcare pressures, and economic uncertainty. He argues many families are struggling to get ahead, with affordability now out of reach for a growing number of residents.
A self-described self-made entrepreneur, Fulmer began his career working entry-level jobs before building and owning dozens of restaurants across Western Canada. He says that pathway to success is becoming increasingly rare in today’s B.C., particularly for younger generations facing housing and cost-of-living pressures.
Fulmer brings an extensive background in business and public service. He is currently the Global Chair of United Way Worldwide and Chancellor of Capilano University. He also serves as Chairman and CEO of Fulmer & Company, an investment firm focused on small and medium-sized businesses. His past roles include Chair of BC Ferries, and he has received several honours, including the Order of British Columbia.
Fulmer launched his leadership bid with an online video on New Year’s Day and has since opened a campaign website to accept memberships, donations, and pledges of support. He says his focus will be on rebuilding opportunity, restoring economic confidence, and presenting British Columbians with a clear alternative to the current government.
