BC Transit is rolling out seasonal service reductions in Fort St. John, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat as schools prepare for the upcoming winter break. The adjustments begin December 21, 2025, and will remain in effect until January 4, 2026, when full service resumes.
In Fort St. John, trips designed for K–12 students on Route 4 Southeast and Route 5 Southwest will be paused. These “S” trips will shift temporarily to Route 2 Southside and Route 3 Central Prospect Park, ensuring riders still have options during the break.
Over in Prince Rupert, Route 99 Special, which primarily serves school-aged riders, will be suspended for the duration of the holiday period. Service will restart on January 4, aligning with students’ return to class.
The District of Kitimat will also see reduced service on its version of Route 99 Special. While the route will continue to operate, it will run on a limited schedule until schools reopen.
BC Transit encourages riders to check updated schedules, plan trips, and sign up for real-time alerts on each community’s dedicated transit webpage.
