Northern Native Broadcasting’s CFNR Radio in Terrace is celebrating a pair of significant wins at the 2025 Canadian Radio Awards, solidifying its role as a leading voice for northern and Indigenous communities.
CFNR was named Campus or Community Station of the Year, a national honour recognizing not-for-profit broadcasters that demonstrate exceptional community service and audience engagement. The award highlights CFNR’s wide-reaching impact across northern British Columbia, where the station delivers local news, cultural content, Indigenous programming, and community-focused storytelling to dozens of communities, many of them remote.
The station also earned a second major win as Matt Fisher, CFNR’s Radio Operations Manager, was named Program Director of the Year in the Small Market category. The award recognizes program directors who demonstrate leadership, creativity, innovation, and a commitment to reflecting their community’s identity. Fisher’s work guiding CFNR’s programming and strengthening its regional presence helped secure the national recognition.
With strong competition from radio stations across the country, CFNR’s dual wins stand out as a testament to the station’s dedication and the importance of community-driven broadcasting in the North. CFNR says it remains committed to serving listeners with meaningful and culturally grounded programming.
