In response to inaccurate information spreading in the community, Northern Health has confirmed that the Kitimat CT scanner project remains on track. The CT machine is scheduled to arrive in early December, with patient services expected to start in the spring.
This project involves extensive planning, renovation, and installation work, all progressing as planned. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation and ongoing support from the Ministry of Health, the project was prioritized earlier than initially scheduled. This means Kitimat will have access to CT scan services years sooner than originally anticipated.
Northern Health also acknowledged recent questions about the project connected to a family’s tragic loss. While unable to comment on individual patient care due to privacy laws, the health authority extended its heartfelt condolences.
This clarification aims to provide reassurance and accurate information to the community. The new CT scanner will significantly improve local healthcare by bringing diagnostic imaging closer to home, reducing the need for travel to other centers.
Northern Health remains committed to transparency and timely updates as the project moves forward, reflecting strong partnerships between the health authority, community groups, and government.
