Environment Canada has issued multiple weather warnings for northern and central British Columbia as a powerful fall storm sweeps across the province.
Wind warnings are in effect for the Cariboo—both north and south—along with the Lakes District and much of the Central Interior. Southerly gusts could reach up to 90 kilometres an hour through areas including Prince George, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Vanderhoof, and 100 Mile House. The winds are expected to peak this morning and ease by late afternoon.
The Central Coast, including exposed areas of northern Vancouver Island, is also under a wind warning, where gusts up to 110 kilometres an hour were reported early this morning before conditions began to ease.
Meanwhile, a rainfall warning is in place for the North Coast inland region, including Terrace and Kitimat, where 45 to 55 millimetres of rain are expected today.
Residents are urged to prepare for potential power outages and travel disruptions, and to secure loose outdoor items. Damage to roofs, fences, or trees is possible.
Environment Canada advises the public to continue monitoring forecasts and to report severe weather using the hashtag #BCStorm.
