Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for coastal sections of the Central Coast, North Coast, and Haida Gwaii. An intense weather front is expected to pass through the region tonight, bringing heavy rain and strong southeast winds gusting up to 110 kilometers per hour.
Residents and visitors in these areas should prepare for potential damage, local utility outages, and disruptions to travel and other services. Authorities advise securing loose objects and taking necessary precautions to ensure safety during the peak of the storm. Winds are expected to gradually ease early Friday morning as the front moves away from the coast.
Coastal communities, including Northern Vancouver Island and the exposed sections of Haida Gwaii, are particularly at risk. People are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring forecasts and alerts issued by Environment Canada. Severe weather reports can be sent via email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca
