At the Nation2Nation Forum in Kitimat yesterday , Gitxaala Nation’s Chief Clifford White led a panel on The Indigenous Natural Gas Opportunity Upstream and Midstream.
The discussion, presented with the First Nations Natural Gas Alliance, brought together leaders including Eva Clayton, Karen Fourt-Gill, and Andrew Victor to talk about education, skills training, and partnerships in the growing natural gas sector.
Speakers shared success stories of Indigenous tradespeople, including women and Elders, who’ve built rewarding careers through community-based training programs that blend cultural teachings with modern skills.
Chief White emphasized that opportunity begins with relationships between communities, industry, and education and that walking together ensures Indigenous people remain at the heart of BC’s energy future.
