There are Two Emergency Department Closures at Hospitals in Northern BC today, Friday, October 3rd.
Northern Health says the Emergency Department of the Dawson Creek and District Hospital will be closed today from 5:00am until 3:00pm this afternoon, while Emergency Department services at the Lakes District Hospital in Burns Lake will be unavailable today from 8:00am until 8:00 pm. Both disruptions due to staffing challenges.
As usual during periods of Emergency Department diversions, anyone with a life-threatening emergency such should still should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available hospital.
The Heath Authority has advised those with non-urgent health needs to contact their family doctor or nurse practitioner if they have one. Those without one can reach the Northern Health Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 between 10:00am. and 10:00pm. Indigenous patients and families can also access the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day at 1-855-344-3800.
