The Cops for Cancer Tour de North has raised $245,545.26 to support childhood cancer research, marking the completion of an 850-kilometre ride through Northern BC. The event, held from September 12th to 18th, 2025, was a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and local first responder agencies.
The funds will be directed toward life-saving cancer research and crucial support programs such as Camp Goodtimes, which provides children with cancer a safe space to connect with others going through similar experiences.
Riders, including Samuelle Simard from Smithers’ BCEHS, stopped in communities along the route, raising funds and awareness for the cause. Simard called the journey an unforgettable experience and a true team effort.
Matthew Campbell, Director of Cops for Cancer, highlighted the importance of the event, saying that it’s more than a fundraiser—it’s a movement of communities and first responders coming together to support children and families battling cancer.
Thanks to the ongoing fundraising, CCS has invested $13 million in childhood cancer research over the last five years. These efforts have helped improve the 5-year survival rate for childhood cancer to 84%, up from 71% in the 1980s.
