A new housing development is underway in Quesnel, bringing 35 affordable rental homes to the community. The five-storey building at 319 North Fraser Drive will include studio, one- and two-bedroom units, some of which are accessible for seniors and those with mobility needs. This new housing project is designed to support a vibrant, intergenerational community that will bring together Indigenous Elders, families, and young adults.
The Quesnel Tillicum Society will own and operate the new homes, set to open in 2027. Located next to the society’s child care and friendship centres, residents will also have access to a range of culturally grounded programs and services. Tenant selection will prioritize Indigenous households with low to moderate incomes.
This project is part of the B.C. government’s $19-billion housing initiative, with the Province contributing approximately $23 million. In addition to providing stable housing, it offers residents the opportunity to engage with a broader network of community support and resources.
