RBC is offering a new no-monthly-fee Day to Day Banking account to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis clients, marking a significant step in its recently launched Reconciliation Action Plan.
The initiative is designed to improve access to financial services for Indigenous Peoples and address barriers to economic participation. The account includes 12 debit transactions per month, unlimited e-Transfers, online purchases with Virtual Visa Debit, transit payments, and more—without a minimum balance requirement.
This change is part of RBC’s broader commitment to economic reconciliation and was developed with guidance from over 400 Indigenous communities and the Indigenous-led consulting firm BOOMInterTribal.
The no-fee banking offer is available now through RBC advisors, based on identification already on file or presented in person.
RBC has also extended no-cost or low-cost banking options to other groups, including seniors aged 65 and older, youth under 25, newcomers to Canada, and Registered Disability Savings Plan beneficiaries.
The move comes ahead of new federal banking guidelines set to take effect in December, which aim to expand low- and no-fee banking access across the country.
