The City of Terrace is reminding residents to keep refundable beverage containers out of curbside recycling bins. These include items like aluminum beer and pop cans, plastic water and juice bottles, juice boxes, liquor bottles, and milk cartons.
Instead, residents are asked to take these containers to the Terrace Bottle Depot at 3110 Kalum Street. When placed in recycling bins, they’re considered contamination and disrupt the recycling process.
Other recyclable items—such as non-deposit glass jars—should be taken to the Do Your Part Recycling Depot in Thornhill. Common household recyclables like soup cartons, plastic containers, take-out cups, and lids can still go in the curbside bin.
Residents who prefer not to return beverage containers themselves are encouraged to donate them to local charities or clubs, many of which accept them for fundraising.
For a full list of accepted items and where they belong, visit terrace.ca/refuse, use the RecycleCoach app, or call the city at 250-615-4019.
Knowing what goes where helps keep the recycling system efficient and supports community fundraising efforts.
