Smithers RCMP are investigating two suspicious vehicle fires that occurred early Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, at McElhanney Consulting Services on 4th Avenue and Queen Street.
The fire broke out just after 4:00 AM, prompting a swift response from Smithers Fire Rescue, who worked to contain the flames. The cause of the fire is currently being treated as suspicious.
Several local residents reported hearing loud bangs around the time of the fire, which are believed to have been caused by fuel tanks or other materials inside the vehicles igniting.
RCMP are asking for the public’s help in the investigation. If you were in the area or passing through Smithers around 4:00 AM and saw anything unusual, police encourage you to come forward with any information. The investigation is ongoing.
