The Province of British Columbia is marking five years of the B.C. Access Grant, a financial aid program launched in 2020 that has supported more than 88,000 students in accessing post-secondary education and training.
Since its launch, the grant has provided more than $178 million in upfront, non-repayable support to low- and middle-income students. Eligible full-time students can receive up to $4,000 per year, while part-time students can access up to $1,000. The funds can be used toward tuition, living expenses, or other education-related costs.
The grant is available to students attending any of B.C.’s 25 public post-secondary institutions and is automatically assessed when applying through StudentAid BC.
Minister of Post-Secondary Education Jessie Sunner says the grant is helping to build a more resilient economy by removing financial barriers to education. Jobs Minister Ravi Kahlon adds that students supported through the grant will play a critical role in B.C.’s innovation and economic growth.
The B.C. Access Grant is part of a broader strategy to make education more affordable, support workforce development, and ensure British Columbians are prepared for success in a rapidly evolving global economy.
