Emergency officials have cancelled the tsunami advisory issued Tuesday night for coastal British Columbia, following a major offshore earthquake near Kamchatka, Russia.
As of early Wednesday morning, no tsunami risk remains for any of B.C.’s coastal zones, including northern communities such as Prince Rupert, Gingolx, Kitimat, and Gitxaala. The National Tsunami Warning Center confirmed that all alerts have been lifted, and the Province is now standing down its emergency operations centres.
