On the evening of July 17, Fort St John RCMP responded to a report of a man flashing a pistol at a member of the public near the intersection of 87 Street and 99 Avenue. Police arrived promptly at around 9:55 p.m. and located two individuals in the area, including an intoxicated man who matched the suspect’s description and was carrying a black pistol. The man was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The firearm was seized and later identified as a BB pistol rather than a real firearm. The suspect was taken to the Fort St John RCMP detachment and released with protective conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 24, 2025. The RCMP highlighted the importance of community members reporting suspicious activity, saying all firearm-related calls receive a serious and immediate response to protect public safety.
